| 1958 - Reno, NV. Happy Buddha Club opens at 222 Lake Street in Reno, on the site of the Old Cathay Club. In October of 1960 the club moves to 246 Lake Street and the name is changed to China Mint. |

| 1980 - Atlantic City NJ. The Sands Casino Hotel (Originally the Brighton Hotel/ Casino) was a casino and hotel that opened on August 13, 1980, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It was formerly known as the Brighton Hotel & Casino. It consisted of a 21-story hotel tower with 532 rooms and a 5-story podium housing the 57,045 ft (17,387 m) casino and various other amenities. It was adjacent to the Claridges Hotel casino in Atlantic City. its parking garage was adjacent to the Madison Hotel. |

| 1959 - Las Vegas Nevada. The property began as the $2 million, 180-room Flamingo Capri motel, owned by George E. Goldberg and Bill Capri. The motel was built directly north of the Flamingo Hotel and Casino, where Capri was an employee. The motel began construction in May 1959, with a planned completion date of August 15, 1959. Douglas Honnold and John Rex, both of Beverly Hills, California, were the architects. Maurice N. Aroff of Beverly Hills was the general contractor.[4] The Flamingo Capri opened in 1959. The original Flamingo agreed to provide hotel services to guests at the Capri. |

| 1981 - Newport Beach, CA. Ernie Primm died of pneumonia. Over the years Primm had owned many casinos including the Monterey Club and Rainbow Club in Gardena, California, the Primadonna Club in Reno, Nevada, and Whiskey Pete's in Jean, Nevada. |

| 1994 - Las Vegas, NV. Boomtown Las Vegas opened on May 27, 1994. A month later, Boomtown, Inc. exercised an option to buy out Roski's 50% share of the property's operating company.
The casino struggled to draw visitors, earning annual cash flow of less than $10 million. With Boomtown, Inc. set to be acquired by Hollywood Park, Inc., an agreement was reached on August 12, 1996 for Roski to buy the property's operating company, in exchange for $8.5 million in promissory notes, $2.1 million in cash and a release from the property's lease. The sale was completed on July 1, 1997, the day after the Hollywood Park-Boomtown merger was completed.Roski renamed the property as Silverton on December 2, 1997. He began down a path of cutting staff from 1,400 to 900 and re-theming the resort . |

| 2016 - Las Vegas Nevada. The Riviera lost $4.5 million on income of $30.8 million in the first quarter of 2010. The decline in popularity of the Riviera was caused in part by the decline of pedestrian foot traffic in the vicinity. Previously, the Riviera was surrounded by the Stardust, New Frontier, and Westward Ho, properties which were demolished to make room for new construction. A shutdown in the new construction in progress at the adjacent Fontainebleau Resort Las Vegas and Echelon Place contributed to the Riviera's decline. The company had 1300 employees in Las Vegas and 260 employees in Black Hawk, Colorado.
In February 2015, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority acquired the Riviera hotel and its associated land for $182.5 million. The property was leased back to its existing operators, Paragon Gaming, who officially closed the establishment on Monday, May 4, 2015. After winding down operations the hotel was closed and demolished to make way for a planned expansion of LVCVA's Las Vegas Global Business Dist. |

| 1965 - Las Vegas, NV. New Pioneer Club Hotel opens, 200 S. 1st St., Las Vegas. |

| 2000 - Las Vegas Nevada. The new Aladdin was scheduled to reopen on August 17, 2000, at 6:00 p.m., with fireworks at 10:00 p.m. The opening was delayed while the Clark County building inspector completed its fire safety testing. Another delay was caused by last-minute repairs to the casino surveillance system. This left thousands of Aladdin visitors leaving in disappointment, as well as opening night hotel guests wondering where they'd spend the night. Many high-rollers waited out on the sidewalks in front of the Aladdin for hours. |
