| 1981 - Las Vegas, NV. Gold Spike Hotel & Casino) is a bar, lounge, residential building, and former boutique 112-room, seven floor hotel. It is connected with the Oasis at the Gold Spike, a 50-room three floor hotel located in downtown Las Vegas. It was owned by entrepreneur Tony Hsieh and his Downtown Project, having bought it from The Siegel Group; and the casino was operated by Golden Gaming.Hsieh closed the casino on April 14, 2013. After a three-week remodel, Gold Spike re-opened the casino as a restaurant and bar on May 6, 2013. The hotel portion of the building was recently converted into permanent and temporary workforce housing for Downtown Project, entrepreneurs, and Zappos; Oasis hotel is a separate building on the same property. |

| 2009 - Bethlehem Pennsylvannia. A hotel and casino located in the Bethlehem Works development site in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in the Lehigh Valley region of eastern Pennsylvania, in the United States.
The casino is owned, operated, and constructed by the Las Vegas Sands corporation. It is one of five stand-alone casinos that was awarded a slots license by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on December 20, 2006. The casino was slated to open in July 2008, but demolition took longer than expected due to the heavy concrete foundations of the old steel building. Its opening was delayed until the second quarter of 2009. The first concrete for the complex, which is located on the former Bethlehem Steel land on the South side of the city, was poured on November 15, 2007. |

| 1955 - Las Vegas, NV. The Dunes opened on May 23, 1955, as a low-rise resort with Hollywood star Vera-Ellen providing the entertainment in the Magic Carpet Review. In 1961, a 24 story northern tower, called Diamond of the Dunes, was built, bringing the number of rooms up to 450. At the time, it was one of the finest and largest hotels on the Strip. The hotel was built in part with financing from movie mogul Al Gottesman and the Teamsters Pension Fund. The major investors were Joseph Sullivan, Alfred Gottesman and Bob Rice. (It was later believed that Raymond Patriarca, the head of a Providence, Rhode Island crime family was the source of Sullivan's investment.) It was designed by architect Maxwell Starkman. The resort soon ran into financial difficulties and the casino closed after a year. The resort was purchased in 1956 by two businessmen, Major A. Riddle, and Jake Gottlieb, who had dealings with the Chicago Outfit. The resort boasted an 18-hole golf course, a rooftop health spa and a 90 ft long pool. |

Landry's, Inc. purchased the casino from Trump Entertainment Resorts in February 2011, and the sale was approved in late May. Landry's took control of the property on May 23, 2011. |

| 1978 - Atlantic City, NJ. Resorts Casino Hotel is a hotel and casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Resorts was the first casino hotel in Atlantic City, becoming the first legal casino outside of Nevada in the United States, when it opened on May 26, 1978. The resort completed an expansion in 2004, adding the 27-story Rendezvous Tower, and underwent renovations in 2011, converting the resort to a Roaring Twenties theme. |

| 1984 - Atlantic City NJ. Trump Plaza opened on May 14, 1984, as a joint venture between the Trump Organization and Holiday Inn subsidiary Harrah's. Trump built the complex and it was managed by Harrah's and contained 614 rooms, seven restaurants, a health club, a 750-seat showroom and a 60,000 sq.ft. casino all on a narrow 2.6-acre plot of land next to Caesars Atlantic City. Within five months, the Harrah's name was removed from the casino and it became known only as Trump Plaza Part of the reason for this is that Harrah's was commonly associated and attracted low-rolling gamblers, but Trump had built 85 high-roller suites, which were rarely used. Revenue for the seven months it was open in 1984 the casino was placed seventh out of the ten casinos operating in the city at the time, which led to Trump taking over the entire casino from Harrah's. In 1989, the East Tower of the complex was opened, expanding the resort to a total of 906 rooms. The East Tower is a former Holiday Inn constructed in the 1960s, but closed. |

| 1977 - Southgate, KY. The Beverly Hills Supper Club fire in Southgate, Kentucky is the third deadliest nightclub fire in U.S. history. It occurred on the night of May 28, 1977, during the Memorial Day weekend. In the blaze, 165 persons died and over 200 were injured. This nightclub was known to have an illegal casino. |
